Working in the library {the Gerald R. Sherratt library on campus, for those of you who don't know}, both upstairs with the administration and downstairs in the Copy Center have been such great experiences because of my awesome coworkers, bosses, and memories that I've made.
Working with Sheri upstairs has been a hidden blessing in my life.
Sheri is like a second mom to me; when my anxiety gets really bad, I always know that she is going to hear me out and calm down my idiotic thoughts.
And I'm so lucky I was able to get rid of my custodial job and work in the Copy Center.
Better hours, happier coworkers, and a phenomenal boss.
I mean, Trecia sneaks pizza into the library to feed us "just for being great employees."
Last week when the power went out, her and Tammy {Trecia's partner-in-crime} drove to Maverick and brought Devan back a bag of chips, and me a Mountain Dew.
And I mean, not just a little Mountain Dew and a little bag of chips.
She doesn't do things half-ass; we're talking a big, normal size bag of chips and a big ol' honkin' Mountain Dew.
What a woman.
Both bosses allow me to take time off, mess with my schedule, and are very understanding that I'm getting married.
The only problem?
Woe #34: This student {working} brides doesn't get paid to take time off.
As I sit here with my iPad, analyzing my calendar and to-do list, I'm going to have to take off lots of time for wedding stuff.
Taking off time means no hours worked.
No hours worked means no pay.
No pay means no money to pay for married life.
Like rent. And food. And phone bills. And tuition. And cars. And gas. And...and...and... other big girl stuff.
Tough luck for me.
Thank heavens for savings accounts.
Oh the woes of getting married. ;)
*As a side note, to make you all laugh: we received this note (picture below) a couple of weeks ago. The library {meaning me, Erika, and Mikki} sent out letters to graduates about donating $50 to purchase a book to be placed here in the library. Instead of getting money back, we got this lovely letter. This douchebag didn't have the nerve to sign the letter, and took advantage of our pre-paid, pre-addressed envelope to send it to us. For real, dude, don't you have anything better to do with your time?
