Woe #17: Neither of us like cake.

My first big fancy date as "girlfriend" with Trevor was when I was his date to his sister's wedding last May. Aubrey used to work with me at the library, and we were semi-friends before me and her little brother even thought about dating. (Funny story, but I remember seeing her walk out of his apartment one time, thinking they were boyfriend and girlfriend before they were brother and sister. Whoops.)

I'm so excited to call Aubrey my sister-in-law. She's funny, smart, and talented, obsessed with Star Wars and Winnie the Pooh, loves spiders, and like her brother, makes you feel like you're the most important person in the world when she's talking to you. She genuinely cares about you and your life.

Now. Like I already stated, Aubrey is talented. Rewind back to her wedding: Aubrey made her own wedding cake. How many brides make their own wedding cake? I remember going to Grandma Fullmer's house a day before the wedding and seeing Aubrey fussing over her wedding cake. The girl was putting spiders made of icing along the top layer of the cake. Spiders. On a wedding cake. And you know what? It looked good and it fit Aubrey. Her sweet husband Chase, my soon-to-be-brother-in-law, supported his wife in her cake making endeavors, including the icing spiders. The cake looked wonderful, and tasted even better.

Fast forward to our upcoming wedding day: first of all, I'm not talented enough to make a cake. I can't bake or cook to save my life. Dad says I can burn water. Ha. Ha. Ha. Second of all, it's also (like my wedding dress) the last thing to think about on my priority list. Why? Because woe #17: neither of us like cake.

Trev's birthday's coming up in April and our families will be in town. I wanted to make him a cake. He crushed my hopes and dreams by telling me he doesn't really like cake.

I am only into cake for the frosting. Fat girl moment, I know, but it's true! I could give a shit less what's on the inside of the cake. Just give me the frosting! 

Why waste money on a wedding cake that neither of us are going to enjoy?

(Screw tradition that after one year of marriage you eat the top... that's gross.)

We've both decided that we do like ice cream cakes though. . . but, an ice cream wedding cake? Would that even be possible?

Meh. Cake.
