If you can't tell what that picture is, it's an image of Highland Garden's website.
Seeing it on a website makes it even more real: Trevor and I are for sure getting married on August 3. For realz.
Over the weekend, after looking at the three reception centers I talked about in woe #3 (Highland Gardens, Talons Cove, and Noah's) with my fiance and parents, Highland Gardens was the winner! It's simply breathtaking. I was sold as soon as we walked in, Trev was sold as soon as the nice lady turned on the waterfall that'll be running during our ceremony in the "ceremony room," and my parents loved the price.
To all you recently engaged kids out there, really truly look at this place and fall in love like I did. I love the convenient location, near Lone Peak High School and the Mount Timpanogos temple. It's a steal for the price that they offer because it comes with a lot! You can bring in your own catering and have full use of their kitchen. There's a gorgeous bride's room and groom's hangout. It's a gorgeous summer paradise, but inside. There's plenty of room. They provide the linens and some decorations. There are several water features. Ahhh, can it be August yet?
Now, for the bad news. Woe #6: Can't I just get married in pants?
Am I the only one that absolutely dreads looking for a wedding dress? Everyone has been asking me, "OMG, have you found a dress yet?" or "What kind of dress do you like?" or "When are you going dress shopping?" or "How much are you going to spend on your wedding dress?"
After some serious looking online and stalking friends' wedding pictures to look at dresses. . .
1. I really don't see the point in renting OR buying a dress that I'm going to wear a total of 2 times. Ever.
And 2. I can't find anything that I truly like. "You can do alterations," Mom told me over the weekend. Yes Mom, because I want to spend more money on a dress that again I'm only going to wear 2 times.
But, I don't want to look like white trash. And I do want to follow traditional standards. And, more importantly, my fiance won't let me walk down the isle to him in pants. Jerk.
So. . . I probably won't be buying a dress until like a month before. Really though. Kill me now.

You could always borrow a dress from someone! One of my friends wore my dress in December at her wedding. Just a thought if you don't want to spend the money!
