Woe #5: No awkwardness, please!

Well hot damn, woe #4 was a doozy. Sorry guys, it was just one of those days.

Probably one of my favorite parts about the day is checking the mail. I checked it as a little girl, waiting for a letter that said my name on it, and now I check it as an engaged woman for wedding announcements of friends. Some announcements I like, sometimes I just don’t know how I feel about them, and sometimes I cringe and shudder inside.

My wedding woe #5: I really, really, REALLY don’t want awkward engagement photos. I don’t want to imagine someone cringing and shuddering inside when they receive our announcement. People who have never met Trevor (or vice versa) are going to see these pictures and see us together for the first time. These are the pictures people are going to judge. These are the pictures that are going to be plastered all over Facebook. These are the pictures that are going to be hung up in our parents’ homes. Pictures are going to last a lifetime. Our future children are going to see these! Engagement pictures are important!

I want my pictures to look cute, natural, and capture the essence of our love for each other. But I don’t want those tacky *in my opinion* pictures that are trending right now. For example, I really hate when people lay down on a cutesy quilt, have their heads on each other shoulders, and simply stare up at the camera. Excuse me, but I don’t want people to see my double chins. Another picture I really hate is those awkward almost kissing pictures. You know what ones I’m talking about; when lips are so close and the couple is all into the kiss, and then… the picture is snapped. To me, they’re just, well, awkward. Trev and I attempted one of those with my webcam. Totes going on an announcement: NOT.

Dad also informed me that there will be no kissy-kissy pictures on our announcement either. Which, I’m totally fine with. I don’t want our old relatives to have a heart attack over us getting a little bit too passionate in a photo.

I googled “awkward engagement photos” and pulled some of my favorite, most awkward photos on the World Wide Web. God bless the couples that have been deemed awkward. I sure don’t want to end up as one.

Great, right? I hope you all got a kick out of those.

Hey Mom? Yet another reason of why we should just hire a good, professional photographer. (:
